=================================== ASUS P/I-AP55T factory disks backup =================================== Wtf'ery? Because it's mid 2023 and there's no way I'm going to find these pristine disks ever again for my HyperTec system. Fortunately they all seem to have read perfectly in the 1.44mb drive I've refurbed, cleaned and lubricated. ==================== Notes & Limitations: ==================== Some chips have the dates of 1194 (Nov 1994). BIOS is not y2k compliant. Secondary IDE chain has bugs with CD-ROM drives and detecting HDD's. Fiddling with the IDE compat setting and leaving it at "Fastest" in the BIOS is the most useful. Whilst we're talking limitations, the BIOS also has the 8gb disk limit. Careful sticking much larger volumes in it, or the CHS translation will wrap when the numbers go past 65535. It does work beautifully with a PCI SATA card with SIL chipset and BIOS extention. Then the problem comes to be FAT32 being about 28gb per partition with 48bit addressing. 28gb partitions with FAT32 on such an old system is a nice problem to have (tm). - Uridium, 08-MAY-2023 =================== Mainboard Hardware: =================== Video: ATi Mach64 with 1-2mb video RAM Sound: Creative Labs Vibra16S Chipset: Intel i430FX66 (Triton-II) =========== Misc disks: =========== ASUS has put DOS, ADI, Win3.1x, OS/2 on a pair of disks with no labels. ============ Disk Labels: =========== Audio : REV_1_0 BIOS Update: REV_1_17S WinNT 1of1 : No Label Win95 1of1 : 148269D1200 Misc 1of2 : No Label Misc 2of2 : No Label
